The First Day.........

I arrived at my scheduled time. After a short wait, I was taken to a room where x-rays were taken and a nerve scan was performed. I then went into a large room with other patients-to-be, and the chiropractor came in a short time later. He gave a very informative talk about health care, subluxations, nutrition and exercise. He talked for about a half hour, and I must say, I was impressed. However, coming from a strictly medical background, I was still a wee bit skeptical about chiropractic care. I didn't understand how adjusting my spine could help my health.

My chiropractor is more involved in the body as whole. He offers workshops and seminars on health and nutrition, as well as the well being of the spine. The spine is where everything begins. If your nerve center is not functioning properly, you will not be healthy. If you've ever had a pinched nerve, you know what I'm talking about. It can cause great pain, numbness, tingling and can make you just plain miserable. Chiropractors "adjust" our spinal column relieving pressure from pinched nerves and re-aligning the spinal column. After an adjustment, my doctor always says, "the power's on". And, he's right. As time goes on, patients feel tremendous relief from the aches and pains they have been experiencing sometimes for years.

My chiropractor has an exercise room with a myriad of equipment he recommends to his patients. There is a neck traction assembly for "stretching" the neck. There is a wobble board which is a little device you sit on and move around in circles which helps the cerebral spinal fluid to flow better. He also has the new "Vibe Plate" which is a platform that you stand on and it vibrates your entire body. It helps with osteoporosis, and even reverses osteoporosis. It exercises the entire body. I will write more about this amazing little tool in a later blog.

In the meantime, I hope that more people will consider chiropractic care. It's been given bad reviews by the medical profession in the past. However, some professionals are beginning to come around and give chiropractic care good grades in preventing disease and helping people improve their health and lifestyles.

My Experience With Chiropractic Care

It's interesting how we tend to form opinions about various things without knowing a thing about them. That was me about 4 years ago when my husband suggested I visit a chiropractor with him. I'd like to say he dragged me kicking and screaming to the chiropractor's office, but actually, I walked in with just a bunch of skepticism and a bit of suspicion. I mean, really, how can moving my already sore bones into different positions and cracking my neck make me feel better? I was soon to find out. I met Dr. Dan and began my journey through x-rays, neck adjustments and learning how to feed my body. Yes, chiropractors address our nasty American eating habits and "try" to get us on the straight path to total health. My chiropractor is very successful at getting his patients to eat right. He offers seminars, workshops and exercise/walking clubs to encourage his patients to a better lifestyle and a longer life.

My next blog will address what happens when you visit a chiropractor for the first time. As I am writing this and adding posts, please feel free to visit Dr. Dan's website at www.yachterhealth.com and learn more. And, please, feel free to leave comments both here and on Dr. Dan's page. It helps us to know what you want to know, and then we are better able to serve you.

Until next time,
